Dear Rio School District Community,

My name is Craig Vetter, and I am the Rio Elementary Principal as well as the Superintendent for the Rio Community School District.  It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. This school year will be my 32nd in education.  I have been the Rio Elementary Principal since July of 2012, and this is my sixth year as superintendent.   Before coming to Rio, I spent twenty years in the Friess Lake School District as both a first and fourth grade teacher.

I grew up in Milwaukee where I attended Grandview Elementary, John Burroughs Middle School and Milwaukee Vincent High School.  At Vincent, I was a Viking just like I am now. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education through Carroll College.  At Concordia University I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. By doing so, I obtained licenses to be a Principal and a Director of Instruction.  I continued my education at Marian University where I earned a Superintendent’s license.

At Rio Elementary, I have the pleasure of working with a dedicated staff that it always looking out for the best interests of our students.  For our students to reach their full potential there must be a strong partnership between the school and home. It is crucial that parents support the teachers in the education of their children. The best way to do this is by keeping the lines of communication open between home and school. Additionally, I strongly encourage parent and community involvement. Please don’t hesitate to ask how you  can help or share what talents you have to make our school even stronger.

Sincerely,

Craig Vetter
