Dear Rio School District Community,

I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to lead the Rio Community School District. I have been with the district since July of 2012 as the the Elementary Principal, but the 2018-2019 school year was the first in which I served as the Superintendent as well. We are in position to have an excellent school year thanks to our dedicated staff. Everyone works hard and is focused on seeing every student succeed.

Our district is small which allows for teachers to really get to know their students. However, we offer many of the opportunities for students that are found in larger districts. At Rio High School students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of athletics and activities such as baseball, softball, basketball, cross country, cabaret, FFA, FBLA, equestrian and trap shooting just to name a few. Technology is available to students at every grade level in Rio Elementary and we are one-to-one with devices at Rio Middle & High School. In fact, we were able to provide devices to all students in second through twelfth grade when they had to learn from home due to the pandemic in the spring of 2020.

Our schools are very blessed to have amazing support from the community. We have strong turnouts at sporting events and concerts as well as our Fall Harvest Meal and Veterans Day program. Local organizations do an amazing job of supporting our students with scholarships as they move on to higher education opportunities. The district voters have passed operational referendums every three years which allow us to continue to provide the wonderful offerings we have for our students. Our most recent referendum passed in April of 2022.
