Superintendent of Schools - Mr. Craig Vetter
Dear Rio School District Community,
I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to lead the Rio Community School District. I have been with the district since July of 2012 as the the Elementary Principal, but the 2018-2019 school year will be the first in which I will serve as the Superintendent as well. We are in position to have an excellent school year thanks to our dedicated staff. Everyone works hard and is focused on seeing every student succeed.
Our district is small which allows for teachers to really get to know their students. However, we offer many of the opportunities for students that are found in larger districts. At Rio High School students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of athletics and activities such as baseball, softball, basketball, cross country, cabaret, FFA, FBLA, equestrian and trap shooting just to name a few. Technology is available to students at every grade level in Rio Elementary and we are a one-to-one with devices at Rio High School.
Our schools are very blessed to have strong support from the community. We have strong turnouts at sporting events and concerts. Our Fall Harvest Meal and Veterans Day programs are great ways that we bring community members into our schools. Local organizations do an amazing job of supporting our students with scholarships as they move on to higher education opportunities. The district voters have passed referendums every three years to maintain the wonderful offerings we have for our students, and we will be looking for that support once again in April of 2019.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our redesigned website. Please stop back often as it is continually updated. As the Superintendent, I will split my time between both buildings. You can reach me by contacting either one. I welcome your questions, feedback and ideas.
