Hello Rio Staff, Students, and Families!
I am excited to be starting my role as the principal of Rio Middle and High School!
The 2023-2024 school year will be my 17th year in education. Prior to coming to Rio, I was an assistant principal for four years, and a MS/HS social studies teacher for 12 years before that. I am looking forward to meeting and working with the staff, students, and community to continue the great things that are going on in Rio!
This year at Rio Middle/High, we will focus on expanding our multi-year initiatives: Mental Health; Academic and Career Planning; Grading for Learning. We will also be working with our community to craft our district's Portrait of a Graduate. Our small school size allows staff to develop strong relationships with students and support their individual needs. We boast an expansive course offering list compared to our size which includes 4 UW Oshkosh CAPP classes, 6 AP offerings, 7 Madison College classes, and a broad range of electives in agriculture, art, business, computer science, FACE, music, Spanish, and tech. ed. Most of our students are also heavily involved with extracurriculars.
